Me a Note
LA LOGGIA art & breakfast
Historic Guesthouse Revived
Montreal, October 1, 2007; LA LOGGIA art & breakfast (formerly Le
Roy d’Carreau) celebrates its re-opening and expands its services.
Newly acquired and refurbished by sculptor Joël A. Prévost
and his partner Robert Ross; the guesthouse will have the added function
of art gallery, sculpture atelier and wellness centre offering personal
training and yoga.
For the official launch party on November 2, LA LOGGIA art & breakfast
will present Dance Me a Note an artistic event with paintings by artist
Chrissy Cheung and recent sculptures by Prévost. A violin performance
by the Joshua Zubot Duo and DJ Seb Fauteux will provide the musical entertainment
for the evening. “…The idea behind Dance Me a Note has harmony
at its roots. We are all unique and we vibrate at our own frequency. What
defines us as individuals is the balance achieved between the consciousnesses
of our inherent frequency with the state of our emotions. When two frequencies
vibrate in consonance the harmony is magnified. This also embodies the
essence of LA LOGGIA where elegant lodging is enhanced by art and wellness…”
stated Joël A. Prévost. LA LOGGIA art & breakfast is housed
in a building that dates back to 1875. It once served as the atelier of
Québec modernist painter Marcel Barbeau. It has four fully equipped,
comfortable guestrooms and a spacious, urban garden. www.laloggia.ca
Featured artist: Chrissy Cheung
Born in Toronto (1978), Chrissy Cheung started drawing at the age of seven.
She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Distinction from Concordia University,
Montreal. She spent time in Calgary developing her self-styled “abstract
narrative”. Her paintings are a kaleidoscope of colours with a strong
fantastical element. Chrissy Cheung is recently re-established in Montreal
where she continues to explore improvisational techniques within the genre
of abstract contemporary painting.
Joël A. Prévost
Born in Lac St Jean, Joël A. Prévost spent two decades working
in community development on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. He has
been a clay sculptor since 1994. His background as a contemporary dance
performer has given him a keen understanding of human anatomy enabling
him to infuse his sculptures with fluidity. His works are in collections
in Europe, Australia, New Zealand and China. He will be offering clay-sculpting
workshops at LA LOGGIA starting in November. For more information: www.claysculptingworkshop.com
