NEW
RELATIONS May
7- June 8, 2008
New Relations is
an exhibition featuring paintings and drawings that were prepared with
the intention of highlighting relationships of all themes; whether they
be between colours themselves or spaces of different proportions. Chrissy
Cheung paints in the vein of abstract expressionism. Although abstract
as a general category, the paintings have references to urban landscapes,
emotion and colour theory. The works call on the viewer to look deeper
into the compositions.
Chrissy Cheung graduated with a BFA from Concordia University in 2000.
She has pursued her art throughout the years, participating in over
15 group shows and several solo exhibitions. Cheung completed an artist
residency through the Banff Centre for the Arts in the Spring of 2005.
She was recently accepted into the Emerging Artists Viewing Program
at the Drawing Center in New York. Her next exhibition will be in Edmonton
in collaboration with Craig Talbot at Artshab Studio Gallery located
at 3rd floor, 10217 106 Street from May 29- July 2.
