FOR IMMEDIATE PRESS RELEASE
Artfirm Gallery will exhibit EVERY
METHOD: NO METHOD by CHRISSY CHEUNG
from November 25 - December 18, 2010
Opening Reception: Thursday, November 25 from 5-8pm
Artist will be in attendance
The current exhibition presents new contemporary paintings and drawings
by Montreal-based artist, Chrissy Cheung. Every Method: No Method, explores
a different stretch of improvisation and collaging technique with the
intension of visual impact.
The title of the show is thematic in each piece as Cheung breaks down
the traditional use of many elements. At times she is stenciling, gelling
canvas over canvas, using image transfer, incorporating copper and silver
leaf into her painting. The work reflects a fresh approach into her insights
of abstraction. It requires the viewer to observe closely and from a
distance to understand and experience the effect of the textures applied.
Chrissy Cheung received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Concordia University
in 2000. She completed an artist residency at the Banff Centre for the
Arts in 2005. Cheung has exhibited in over 40 selected solo and group
art exhibitions across Canada. In 2009, she received a Canada Council
for the Arts, Visual Arts Project Grant.
